RUSSELLVILLE, ARK. – East Central University men’s basketball junior Ishmael Donzo has picked up his first honor as a Tiger, being named the Great American Conference Player of the Week for Feb. 22 and also picking up the ECU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor.
Donzo helped the Tigers (20-6, 16-4 GAC) push their winning streak to eight and claim the solo first-place spot in the GAC standings with three wins last week. The Austin, Texas native averaged 18.7 points and 13.0 rebounds against Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene and Northwestern Oklahoma State.
Donzo recorded double-doubles in all three wins, highlighted by setting career highs of 22 points and 17 rebounds vs the Rangers. He went 23-for-35 from the field.
