ADA – East Central University softball senior Shelby Simmons has been named to the 2013 Daktronics All-America Softball Honorable Mention team, as the lone member on the four teams from the Great American Conference.

Simmons was named the GAC Player of the Year after leading the league in batting average (.456), triples (6), and hits (73). The North Richland Hills, Texas, native also ranked No. 2 in on-base percentage (.485), third in total bases (101) and No. 5 in slugging percentage (.631) and RBIs (40). She has helped pace the Lady Tigers (42-13, 23-7 GAC) to a .353 team batting average, which ranks No. 3 in the NCAA.

Simmons ranks No. 5 in the nation in the Toughest to Strikeout category, which she earned the title in 2012. She also ranked No. 10 in triples and No. 17 in batting average in the NCAA.
