ADA - Two East Central University football players - sophomore defensive end Armonty Bryant and freshman punt returner Markell Walker - were named Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week by BigUSports.com, out of Bartlesville, it was announced Monday night.

BigUSports.com hands out weekly awards to players from the NCAA Division II and NAIA schools in Oklahoma as ECU captured two of the three honors.

Bryant, from Wichita Falls, Texas, was named Lone Star Conference North Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Tigers' 23-0 home win over Southwestern Oklahoma State as he intercepted a pass and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown and led the Tigers with seven tackles, including five solos and three stops for lost yards. He was also in on a pair of sacks.

Walker, out of Midwest City and Carl Albert High School, had a 39-yard punt return for a touchdown and finished with 90 yards on five punt-return attempts.

Northwestern Oklahoma State's Korey Williams was named Offensive Player of the Week.
