Box Score ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – The East Central University volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) sweep of Henderson State on the road in Great American Conference action.

The Lady Tigers (9-14, 6-3 GAC) were led by senior
Ashley Williams who tallied 12 kills, a .474 (12k-3e-19ta) hitting percentage, two service aces and three (1-2) blocks. Sophomore
Hayley Gerken added 11 kills, three service aces and a .400 (11k-3e-20ta) hitting percentage.
The opening set was close at the beginning with six ties and four lead changes. The final tie came at eight-all when ECU started a 4-0 run to take an 11-8 advantage. The teams renewed the battle, but the advantage that the Lady Tigers had gained held strong and ECU went on to win 25-23.
The second set was a tight battle again, with eight tie scores and three lead changes. This time the battle ran until 11-all. The Lady Tigers used a 5-1 run to go ahead 16-12. Both teams had small runs through the rest of the set, but the lead that ECU had built was enough to earn a 25-21 win.
The third set was all Lady Tigers, as ECU jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. The Lady Tigers used several runs throughout the set and never let the Lady Reddies (3-19, 0-10 GAC) get closer than three points and earned the sweep with a 25-19 win.
Both teams struggled with hitting percentage in the game, with ECU earning a slight .191 (46k-24e-115ta) to a .140 (28k-14e-100ta) by HSU. The Lady Tigers also earned a 9-3 advantage in service aces.
ECU will return to action Tuesday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Alva, Okla., to battle with Northwestern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m.
