Volleyball Falls to Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVILLE, ARK. – The East Central University volleyball team dropped a 0-3 (20-25, 15-25, 16-25) decision to Arkansas Tech on the road in Great American Conference action.

The Lady Tigers (6-8, 3-2 GAC) were led by senior Noelle Cope, who tallied 11 kills and five digs.  Fellow senior Taylor Brown led the team defensively with 13 digs.

In the opening set the Golden Suns (10-5, 4-2 GAC) took an early 2-6 advantage and, despite late four and three-point runs by ECU, earned a 20-25 win.

The start of the second set was tight, with seven tie scores.  The final tie came at nine-all, but it was ATU that went on a 7-0 run to take control of the set.  The Golden Suns kept pushing and earned the 15-25 win.

After a three-all tie at the start of the second set, ATU used a 9-0 run to take control of the set and went on to win 16-25.

The Golden Suns used a strong offense, hitting .257 (43k-15e-109ta) to the Lady Tigers .089 (23k-14e-101ta) mark.  ECU did earn a blocking advantage at 5.0 to 2.0.

The Lady Tigers will have the start of the week off before traveling to Joplin, Mo., to participate in the Missouri Southern State Invitational, Oct. 11-12.
