Box Score ADA – The East Central University volleyball team saw an eight match home winning streak come to an end on the annual Senior Night, with a 2-3 (25-23, 23-25, 12-25, 27-25, 11-15) loss to Southern Nazarene.

The Lady Tigers are 11-17 overall and finish the Great American Conference portion of the season with an 8-6 record, good for the No. 3 seed in the 2013 GAC Tournament. ECU will face No. 6 Southeastern Oklahoma State in the first round.
The Lady Tigers had three players with double-doubles for the evening, with senior
Danielle Essix leading the team with 10 kills and 23 digs. Senior
Jessica Wilkinson added 52 assists and 18 digs, while senior
Noelle Cope contributed 10 kills and 16 digs. Sophomore
Hayley Gerken was the top producer in the kill's column (16), while senior
Ashley Williams tallied 15.
The tone of the match was set during the opening set, with ECU and the Crimson Storm (22-9, 12-2 GAC) battling through 16 tie scores and eight lead changes before a winner was decided. The teams traded 18 serves toward the end of the set before ECU earned the final two points for the 25-23 win.
While SNU pulled out to an early 2-7 advantage in the second set, the Lady Tigers kept the pressure up and forced a tie at 20, with several small runs throughout the set. The teams again traded the next eight serves, but this time it was the Crimson Storm's turn to earn the 23-25 win.
The third set was all SNU, as they jumped out to a 3-12 lead and never let up. The Crimson Storm earned the 12-25 win.
The fourth set was again a battle for control, with 11 tie scores and six lead changes. After ties through five, SNU pulled out to a 5-8 lead, but the Lady Tigers didn't give up and used a 3-1 run to cut the deficit to one.
After the Crimson Storm were up 11-13, ECU used a 3-0 run to take a quick 14-13 lead. The teams traded the next four serves and this time the Lady Tigers pushed the momentum and earned an 18-15 lead. ECU held the lead until SNU used a 4-0 run to tie the set at 23. The battle resumed and ECU was able to earn the 27-25 win, with kills from Gerken and Essix.
The final set saw SNU pull away with a 1-8 advantage early and push through to lead 7-14. The Lady Tigers fought hard to keep the set going, stopping four match points before the Crimson Storm earned the final point for the 11-15 win.
SNU earned key advantages in hitting percentage (.137 to .212), service aces (2-9) and blocks (19-12) in the match.
The Lady Tigers will wrap up the final regular-season match of 2013, Saturday, Nov. 16 when they travel to face Central Oklahoma at 4 p.m. in Edmond, Okla. ECU will then travel to Hot Springs, Ark., the following week for the 2013 GAC Tournament, with their first match set for Thursday, Nov. 21 at noon.
