Box Score ADA- The East Central University women's basketball team had a good opening day of the 2013-14 season, earning an 87-56 win over Southwestern Christian at the Kerr Activities Center. The win was the first for interim head coach Emily Holombek.

The Lady Tigers (1-0) saw five players earn double-digits in the point's column and had all 10 players who saw action garnered at least three points. Senior
Ashley Robison led ECU with 17 points and nine rebounds, while also adding two blocks and three steals.

The Lady Tigers shot 50.8 percent (32-of-63) from the floor and 54.5 percent (12-of-22) from beyond the arc. ECU also held the Eagles (0-3) to 34 percent (17-of-50) from the floor and 25 percent (5-of-20) from three-point range. The Lady Tigers also earned a key advantage in rebounds, 44-29.
The game started out close in the first few minutes, with SCU holding a 2-4 lead with 17:33 left to play in the stanza. That is when ECU went to work, going on a 15-0 run over the next 4:30 to take the lead for good (17-4).
The Eagles tried to make a come-back late in the first half, going on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 22-16, but went to the locker room trailing 30-24.
The Lady Tigers came out after the break and used a 12-3 run to push the momentum farther in their favor (42-27). The game then went into a back-and-forth battle for the next 10 minutes before ECU again pushed the tempo and used a 14-2 run to take an 80-49 lead with two minutes left to play.
The Lady Tigers kept up the defensive pressure and allowed SCU to score just nine points in the final three minutes of the game for the 87-56 win.
ECU will continue their five-game home stand to start the season with a Tuesday, Nov. 12 battle with St. Gregory's. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on Wayne Cobb Court.
