ADA – The East Central University soccer team claimed its first win of the 2013 season, with a 2-0 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State in Great American Conference action.

Junior Katie Glutz tallied one goal for the Lady Tigers (1-6) and ECU earned a second goal after a shot was deflected into the net by a Ranger (1-7) defender.
Red-shirt freshman Taylor Lowe earned her first win in net with the shutout and five saves.
The match remained scoreless through the first period. Glutz broke the goose egg on the scoreboard at 64:53 when she directed in a free kick from sophomore Kelsey Pickrell at the right corner of the box.
ECU went up 2-0 at 84:44 on an own goal by NWOSU. Senior Stephanie Flores sent in a shot from the right corner of the box that went in front of the net and off a Ranger defender.
The Lady Tigers had strong control of the game, with 27 shots to five by NWOSU. ECU also earned four corner kicks and allowed none by the Rangers.
ECU will continue its three-match home stand Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
