The East Central University women's basketball team will start the 2014-15 season on the road at Rogers State, Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. in the Claremore Expo Center. The game will be the first of three on the road to start the year.
Game NotesThe BroadcastECU's radio home for Tigers basketball in 2012-13 is Ada's KXFC, 105.5, FM 'The X-Factor'. Kenny Morrison returns to broadcast the games for his 18th season. Morrison, a 1987 ECU graduate, spent two seasons doing color prior to taking over the play-by-play duties during the 1997-98 season.

Scouting Rogers StateThe Hillcats finished the 2013-14 season with a 9-17 overall record and a 6-14 mark in the Heartland Conference. However, RSU will be looking to replace 70 percent of its scoring, as they lost their three top producers from last season.
The Hillcats do return seven players from their 2013-14 roster, with six newcomers, including four collegiate transfers. Mikaila Newton is the top returner for RSU after averaging 8.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. She also added 30 assists and shot .321 (69-215) from the field and led the team with a .255 (37-145) mark from beyond the arc.
Against the HillcatsLast year, the Tigers and RSU met at the Kerr Activities Center, with ECU earning a 79-48 victory. ECU had five players in double-digits in the point's column, with senior
Ashleigh Kelman-Poto leading the returners with 12 points and nine rebounds. Senior
Erin Walling added 10 points and five points, while senior
Janee Garza contributed 10 points.
The top returner for the Hillcats is Mikaila Newton, with eight points. Kami Bunch added seven points and four boards.
The Series
This will be just the second meeting between ECU and the Hillcats and just the first on the road. The Tigers claimed a 79-48 win at home last season in the opener for the series.
Half and HalfThe Tigers return have of a quartet that tallied double-digit point totals in 2013-14, with

Dilan Webster and
Erin Walling returning for their senior seasons in 2014-15. Webster netted 11.2 points per game and added 6.3 boards, while Walling garnered 11.1 points and 4.2 rebounds.

Dilan Webster has been a force to deal with on the blocks, as she became the ECU all-time leading blocker before her junior season (2013-14). Webster tallied 30 more blocks a year ago to more her own school record to 126 career blocks.
Starting Where We Left OffECU was picked to finish tied for fourth in the Great American Conference standings for the 2014-15 season in the annual Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches. The Tigers finished with 58 points in the poll, with Harding picked to repeat as champions with 99 points and nine first-place votes. ECU finished the 2013-14 season second with an overall record of 19-9 and a 13-7 mark in league games.
Up NextThe Tigers will continue their road trip to open the season and play the first GAC games of the year next week when they travel to battle Arkansas-Monticello Nov. 20 and Henderson State Nov. 22.
