BETHANY, OKLA. – The East Central University soccer team saw its 2014 season come to an end when they fell in penalty kicks to Southern Nazarene in the Great American Conference Tournament. The game officially ended in a 1-1 tie, but since it was a tournament match there had to be a winner determined to move on to the GAC Championship. SNU hit four of their four penalty kick attempts, while the Tigers made just one of four.

The Tigers (7-8-3) were led by senior Milan Galloway, with four shots on goal, while senior Katie Glutz tallied the goal for ECU. Junior Taylor Lowe had a strong day in goal, allowing just one goal and stopping six shots.
The Crimson Storm (10-8-1) got on the board first with a goal from Sheridan Williams at 36:22.
ECU knotted the game at one at 42:47 when shots sent a shot in over the hands of the SNU goal tender from 25 yards out to the right, with an assist from junior Megan Lantrip.
The teams traded shots in the second period, but ECU making two saves and SNU three, but they were unable to break the stalemate. The Tigers were the more aggressive team in the first overtime, recording two shots in the first overtime, with the Crimson Storm sending in five shots during the second overtime.
However, neither team was able to get a goal in the net and ended the game officially in a 1-1 tie. The teams then moved on the penalty kicks to determine the team that would move on to the GAC Championship match.
SNU made all four of their attempts, while ECU made just one of four, allowing the Crimson Storm to move on to the GAC Championship match against Ouachita Baptist.
