Box Score ALVA, OKLA. – The East Central University volleyball team suffered a 0-3 (22-25, 12-25, 17-25) loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State in Great American Conference action.
The Tigers (1-11, 0-3 GAC) were led by freshman
Madyson Gill, who tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs. Junior
Sarah Simpson added nine kills and 10 digs, while freshman
Lily Porsa tallied 12 digs.
ECU opened the match on a strong note, pushing out to a 6-0 lead. However, the Rangers (6-3, 1-0 GAC) fought back and cut the deficit to one (9-8). The Tigers pushed back and increased the lead back to six (14-8), with a 5-0 run.
NWOSU responded with an 8-2 run to tie the set at 16 and continued the run to 10-2 to take a 16-18 advantage. ECU fought back to tie the set at 18 and 19. However, the Rangers used a 2-0 run to take the needed advantage and kept the momentum on their side for the 22-25 win.
The second set saw NWOSU jump out to an early 1-9 lead and never look back on the way to a 12-25 win.
The Rangers took an early 3-7 advantage in the third set, but ECU fought back and kept the score within reach until the scoreboard read 16-17. That's when NWOSU took over for good and used an 8-1 run to win 17-25.
The Tigers will wrap up a three-match week with a non-conference match at St. Gregory's, Saturday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m.
