Box Score ADA – The East Central University women's basketball team suffered their first Great American Conference loss of the season, with a 59-71 loss to Ouachita Baptist at the Kerr Activities Center.

OBU (4-10, 1-6 GAC) came out ready to play and used an 11-5 run in the first six minutes to take the lead for the rest of the game. Ouachita had increased the lead to 11 (9-20) with just under eight minutes left in the first half when ECU mad a push to get back in the game with an 8-2 run over the next minute. However, the push was not enough and ECU went into the locker room trailing 22-34 at the half.
The opening eight minutes of the second half were kept close, with long periods without either team scoring. With seven minutes remaining on the clock ECU went on a final push and was able to cut the deficit to four (58-62), with a 15-2 run to 1:15 left on the clock. However, OBU countered with a 9-1 run in the final minutes, with all points at the free throw line, to take the 59-71 victory.
Cold shooting was the down fall for ECU in the game, as they hit 34.5 (19-of-55) percent from the field to 47.9 (23-of-48) percent by Ouachita. OBU also tallied eight triples to just four by ECU.
The Tigers will now hit the road for a key weekend in GAC action at the two ranked teams above ECU in the standings. The Tigers will first battle No.22 Harding, Thursday, Jan. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Searcy, Ark. ECU will wrap up the road trip at No. 18 Arkansas Tech, Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.
