SHAWNEE, OKLA. – In the first Great American Conference match in the series history with Oklahoma Baptist, the East Central University soccer team dropped a 1-2 decision.
The Tigers (3-7, 2-2 GAC) saw a goal from senior
Kaitie Herrin. Sophomore
Deanna Rudasill led the team with three shots on goal, while junior
Sitona Holm added two. Freshman
Chloe Hull garnered four saves for ECU in net.
The Bison (3-4, 1-2 GAC) got on the board early and quickly took a 2-0 lead in the first four minutes of the match. OBU tallied its first goal at 3:27 and added its second at 4:04.
ECU then buckled down on defense and didn't allow any more goals through the match.
Herrin cut the deficit in half at 58:23 on an unassisted goal, but the team was unable to get the equalizer.
The Tigers will continue their five-match road trip next week with matches at Harding (Oct. 8/7 p.m.) and Ouachita Baptist (Oct. 10/11 a.m.).
