The opening set was close at the start until at tie at 10-all. That is when the Golden Suns (13-5, 7-0 GAC) went on the offensive and used an 11-3 run to take control of the set for good. The push was all they needed to get to the 17-25 win.
The second set was all ATU, as they jumped out to a 0-7 lead and never looked back on the way to a 6-25 win.
The final set was more of a true battle, with four tie scores and a lead change. Each team took their turn going on runs to either tie the set or push out to a small advantage.
After a 14-all tie, the Golden Suns used a 7-2 run to take the lead, but the Tigers fought back and tied the set at 23, with a 7-2 run of their own. However, ATU kept pushing and earned the next two points for the 23-25 win.
ECU will be back in action again Saturday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. when they host Harding at the Kerr Activities Center.
