ADA – The East Central University baseball team dropped a 5-14 decision to Oklahoma Baptist in the home opener at Ken Turner Field for the 2015 season.

The Tigers saw five pitchers on the mound, with junior
Quentin McGrath throwing five innings, allowing five hits and three runs and striking out two.
The Bison (5-0) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, plating four runs in the top of the first and seven in the second for a 0-11 lead.
ECU scored its first run in the bottom of the second inning. Spini led off with a double down the right line. Pomales and senior
David Terrazas both added singles to left to load the bases. That allowed senior
Bryce McKee to earn an RBI with a sacrifice fly to center.
Both teams went silent for the next three innings, before OKBU added a run in the sixth for a 1-12 score.
The Tigers responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to make the score 2-12. Senior
Ty Huie started the inning with a single and was joined on base when senior
Garrett Donohoe was hit by a pitch. Pomales then earned his RBI with a single to left field.
The seventh was just like the sixth, with the Bison scoring a run and ECU responding with one for a 3-13 score. Senior
Casey Chenoweth was walked and senior
Ariel Adut singled up the middle to put runners on the corners. The run was then scored on a wild pitch.
The Tigers continued to put runs on the board in the eighth, pushing the score to 5-13. Donohoe and Spini singled and Pomales was hit to load the bases. After the first out of the inning, McKee drew a walk to score a run and keep the bases loaded. Chenoweth added an RBI with a sacrifice fly to center.
OKBU finished the scoring with a run in the top of ninth for a 5-14 final.
ECU will now get ready for its first Great American Conference series of the season, Feb. 13-14 in Weatherford, Okla., against Southwestern Oklahoma State. A single game is set for Friday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. and a double-header for Saturday, Feb. 14 at noon.
