Box Score ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – The East Central University women's basketball team dropped a 45-48 last-second decision to Ouachita Baptist on the road in Great American Conference action.
The Tigers (14-8, 10-6 GAC) were led by senior
Erin Walling, who tallied 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. Senior
Dilan Webster added 10 points, while senior
Taylor Fischer led the team with eight rebounds.
ECU and OBU (8-14, 4-11 GAC) traded points and leads through the first 15 minutes of the first half. However, with ECU trailing by just two (14-16), with five minutes left to play, Ouachita Baptist used a 7-2 run through the end of the first half for a 16-23 lead.
ECU quickly tied the game at 23 in the opening minutes of the second half and continued to push out to a five-point advantage (32-27) with 11:18 left to play. The teams traded points of the next few minutes before OBU used a 9-0 run that ended with three minutes left to take a 41-43 lead.
The game remained close, with no team leading by more than two points the rest of the game. OBU earned a layup with five seconds left to take the 45-48 lead. ECU had a chance to earn tie the game at the last seconds, but missed the shot.
The Tigers will now return home for two-straight games at the Kerr Activities Center. The first opponent to stop in Ada will be Arkansas Tech, Thursday, Feb. 19 for the annual PinkOut Game at 5:30 p.m.
