ADA – The East Central University volleyball team is preparing to play four matches in four days, starting with the annual Pink Out match, Friday, Oct. 14 against Henderson State at 7 p.m. in the Kerr Activities Center. ECU will also host Ouachita Baptist, Saturday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m.
The Tigers will end the span with two matches, Monday, Oct. 17 in Langston, Okla. ECU will first face host Langston and then Mid-American Christian starting at 3 p.m.
The Reddies are 9-10 overall and 4-3 in the Great American Conference after going 1-1 last weekend. The Reddies are close to their opponents in all areas of the box score, but trail them .170 to .189 in hitting percentage.
Sharon Tukuaoga and Courtney Bolf lead the team offensively, with over 200 kills each. Tukuaoga has a .243 (265k-102e-670ta) attack percentage, 51 digs and 51 (5-46) blocks. Bolf adds 239 kills, 16 service aces, 209 digs and 21 (2-19) blocks.
Ouachita comes into the weekend with a 12-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the league. OBU will have one chance to improve its record before facing ECU, as they travel to Southeastern Friday.
While Ouachita is close to its opponents in most statistical categories, it has a .233 to .179 advantage in hitting percentage.
OBU has five hitters with over 100 kills and three hitting over .225 for the season. Adrianna Nolly and Kori Bullard are the biggest threats. Nolly has 171 kills, a .315 (171k-59e-356ta) attack percentage and 52 (11-41) blocks. Bullard adds 109 kills, six service aces, 32 digs and 54 (10-44) blocks.
Langston is currently 2-24 on the season and will play two matches before the Tigers come to town. Amber Warren is the teams leader with 163 kills, 19 service aces and 73 (52-21) blocks.
Mid-America Christian is 8-12 on the season and will face St. Gregory's this weekend. Laurel Church is the top producer for the Evangels with 214 kills and 34 (9-25) blocks.
Friday's match with HSU will be the 11
th in the all-time series, which the Tigers lead 8-2, including a 3-0 mark at home. Saturday's match against Ouachita is the eighth in the series, with ECU trailing 3-4. However, the Tigers have never lost at home (2-0).
ECU and the Lions have met on just two previous occasions, with each winning a match. When playing the Evangels, ECU holds a 4-1 advantage after winning the last three matches.
