ECU took a while to get its offense going, as they were held scoreless through the first minute of the opening quarter.  The Javelinas (1-0) continued the defensive pressure and increased the lead to 11 (2-13), in the first three minutes of the stanza.  The teams then traded points the rest of the quarter, with the Tigers trailing 10-21 at the end of the 10 minutes.

Both teams picked up the defense in the second quarter, with ECU scoring just five points and the Javelinas eight for a 15-29 score at the half.
