ADA – The East Central University football team was on the wrong side of a 27-34 decision to arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State in the final game of the 2016 season.

The Tigers (1-10 GAC) were led by senior
David Moore, who tallied 107 reception yards and 58 yards rushing, with one touchdown. Senior
Brooks Holder went 23-of-35 passing for 311 yards and a TD.
Fellow senior
Jarod Haynes added two field goals, including a career-best 45-yard attempt. He also recorded 248 yards on kickoffs and 80 yards punting in the game.
Junior
Camnik Campbell set a new single season total tackles record after recording 17 (11-6) in the game. Campbell ended the season with 125 total tackles (53-72), breaking the record of 113 set by
Jameel Whitney a season ago.
The Savage Storm (7-4 GAC) were the first to strike, recording an 18-yard touchdown run, with 3:03 left in the first quarter.
The Tigers tied the game on the first play of the second quarter, when senior
Jason Gaines capped off a seven-play, 62-yard drive with a 29-yard catch from Holder.
SE responded with two touchdowns through the rest of the second quarter to push the lead to 7-17, with 2:42 left to play.
ECU kept fighting and Haynes hit a 45-yard field goal as time ran out in the half to cut the deficit to seven (10-17).
The Savage Storm were again the first to score in the second half, getting a 38-yard field goal with nine minutes left in the stanza.
Moore then recorded his first career rushing touchdown, with 6:54 left in the third quarter. The TD was the 36
th of his career, but the first on the ground. Moore rushed for 58 yards for the TD, but the extra point was missed to put the score at 16-20.
SE added a touchdown, with 3:07 left in the quarter, to end the third stanza with a 16-27 advantage.
The Tigers pushed back in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to three (24-27), with 13:05 left to play. Holder snuck in for a touchdown on a two-yard rush and then junior
Dezmon Jackson rushed in for the two point conversion.
The Savage Storm added a TD, with 5:51 left, to push the lead back to 10 (24-34).
ECU would score one more time in the game, but it was not enough to claim the win. The final points came from Haynes, on a 37-yard field goal, with 2:59 left on the clock.
Moore ends his career with the Tigers with the single season and career records for both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He tallied 1,097 yards in 2015 and ended his career with 2,776 reception yards. He also recorded 13 receiving TD a year ago and 35 for his career.
