MONTICELLO, ARK. – Despite East Central University men's basketball senior
Braxton Reeves becoming the 18
th member of the Tiger's 1,000 Point Club, ECU fell to Arkansas-Monticello, 99-104, in Great American Conference action.
Reeves led the Tigers (0-4, 0-2 GAC), with 28 points and now has a career total of 1,017 points. Reeves also added six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Reeves was one of five players to reach double-figures for ECU in the point's column. Senior

The game started out close, with the Tigers leading in the early minutes. ECU then used a 7-0 run to push the lead out to nine (18-9), with 13:41 left in the half. The Tigers held the advantage between four and nine points over the next eight minutes. The Boll Weevils (3-0, 2-0 GAC) then started a 9-5 run to tie the score at 39, with 2:52 left. ECU pushed the tempo again in the final minutes, and went into the intermission leading 47-44.
The Tigers opened the second half strong, pushing the lead out to double digits in the first three minutes and to as many as 14 (67-53), with 15:48 left to play. UAM slowly fought back and used a 7-0 run over a two-minute span to knot the game at 73, with 10:15 left on the clock.
The teams traded points over the next two minutes, but it was the Boll Weevils who broke the battle. UAM used a 6-0 run over the next minute to take control of the scoreboard for good. The Boll Weevils pushed their advantage out to as many as 10 on the way to the 99-104 final.
The key difference came at the charity stripe, where ECU allowed UAM to go 23-of-36 and were held to an 18-of-24 mark themselves. Both teams had strong shooting nights, with the Tigers hitting 58.6 percent of their shots and UAM 59 percent.
ECU will now get ready for two games over the Thanksgiving weekend in St. Louis, Mo. The Tigers will face Missouri-St. Louis, Friday, Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. and Maryville, Saturday, Nov. 26 at 5:15 p.m.
