Volleyball Headed to Southeastern for Decisive GAC Match

Junior Kaci Harrison led the Tigers against Southeastern earlier this season with a double-double.
ADA – The East Central University volleyball team is headed to Durant, Okla., Thursday, Nov. 10 for a 7 p.m. match with archrival Southeastern that will determine if the Tigers will advance to the Great American Conference Championship tournament.

The Tigers are 7-22 overall and 3-12 in the GAC, while the Savage Storm are 11-14 and 4-10 in the league.  SE still has a match on the schedule before hosting ECU, as they face Oklahoma Baptist Tuesday on the road.  A win for the Savage Storm on Tuesday would give them the final spot in the tournament, a loss will pit the Tigers and SE in a battle for the final spot on Thursday.

The Savage Storm have three players with over 200 kills this season.  Julie Benford is a key all-around player with 244 kills, a .310 (244k-67e-571ta) hitting percentage and 58 (17-41) blocks.  Abby Jameson adds 302 kills, 20 service aces and 254 digs.

In the first meeting between the teams this season, the Tigers were led by junior Kaci Harrison who tallied a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs.  Junior Madyson Gill added 11 kills and five service aces in the sweep of SE.

The Savage Storm were paced by Jameson with four kills and two service aces.  Erika Costain added four kills and eight digs.

ECU has struggled in the overall series with SE (5-12), but the difference is more pronounced on the road, where the Tigers have won just one of eight meetings in Durant.
