Senior Braxton Reeves had the game of his career with 40 points, four assists and two steals.  The 40 points rank No. 4 in the Tiger's (5-4) record book for points by an individual, with the highest at 44 by Roland Miller (Feb. 19, 1998).  Reeves went 11-for-11 from the charity stripe, accounting for 38 percent of ECU's total free throws (29) attempted in the game.

Freshman Camron Talley added a career-best 20 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.  Senior Ishmael Donzo was also a key player for the Tigers, with his 10th career double-double on 10 points and 15 boards.

ECU was able to come out on top in the game despite allowing the Lions (9-2) to take 53 free-throws.  Commerce made just 32 of those attempts for a 60.4 percentage, while the Tigers went 25-of-29 (86.2%).

ECU also cleaned up beyond the arc, making 11 triples to the Lions four and hitting 40.7 percent of their attempts to 21.1 percent from Commerce.

The game was a close battle through much of the 40 minutes, with 11 ties and seven lead changes.  However, the Tigers kept control of the scoreboard for most of the game.  The Lions biggest lead was just two points, with ECU increasing its lead out to as many as 11 in the second half.

The Tigers went into the locker room at intermission with a three-point (39-36) advantage after a last-second layup from senior Aly Hudgins.

ECU held the advantage within two possessions for the first eight minutes of the half, before a 6-0 run by Commerce gave the Lions their first lead of the stanza (+2), with 10:45 remaining.

The score remained close over the next two minutes, but the Tigers eventually went on a 6-0 run of their own to take the lead for good in the final minutes of the game.

Commerce kept things close until the final four minutes where ECU saw Reeves hit 13 of his 40 points to give the Tigers the cushion they needed down the stretch.

ECU will now get ready for the final game of the 2016 portion of the season, Monday, Dec. 19 at noon against Cameron in the Kerr Activities Center.  The game is the annual Kids Field Trip day, with six local schools sending over 500 students to the game.  Admission is free for all and new, unwrapped toys will still be accepted at the door for the Mercy Ada Toy Drive.
