SHAWNEE, OKLA. – The East Central University women's basketball team fell in the first of three-straight road games 59-91 to Oklahoma Baptist in Great American Conference action.

ECU fell behind early in the first quarter, as the Lady Bison (11-13, 9-9 GAC) started the game with an 8-2 run in the first 1:30. The Tigers cut into the lead with a three, but saw the disadvantage grow back to six (5-11) in the next 30 seconds.
OKBU kept the lead between two to four points over the next three minutes, but then used an 8-0 run in the final five minutes to take a 13-23 lead at the end of the quarter.
The teams traded the first few baskets of the second quarter, but after the first four minutes, the Lady Bison held ECU without a field goal until the final minute, going on a 15-4 run. The momentum push ended with a 25-48 lead at the half.
The Tigers opened the third quarter on an 11-3 run to cut the disadvantage to 15. After trading the next few shots, OKBU finished the last two minutes of the stanza on a 9-1 run to push the lead by out to 19, 43-64.
The Lady Bison slowly increased the pressure through the fourth quarter and pushed the lead out to 31, with 3:48 to play (49-80). Both teams kept fighting through the rest of the game, with Oklahoma Baptist earning the 59-91 win.
ECU struggled to get their offense going in the game, shooting 32.2 percent (19-of-59) from the field and 14.3 (4-of-28) percent from beyond the arc. The Lady Bison had a strong day overall, shooting 43.9 percent (29-of-66) from the floor and 50 percent (15-of-30) from three-point range.
The Tigers will continue their three-game road stand, Monday, February 13 when they travel to Durant, Okla., to battle with arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State at 5:30 p.m.
