BARTLESVILLE, OKLA. – The East Central University women's basketball team saw its 2015-16 season come to an end with a 63-79 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State in the 2016 Great American Conference Championship semifinals.

Jalyn Jackson and
Whitney Stotler. Jackson recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 21 points and 18 rebounds. Stotler added a career high 28 points and three blocks, while adding five rebounds and two assists.
The opening quarter was a close battle, but ECU couldn't get past a tie score. The Bulldogs (20-10) opened the game on a 6-2 run, but the Tigers fought back to tie the game at eight, with 4:45 left to play. SWOSU regained the lead with a 6-0 run and ended the half leading 12-16.
The opening fur minutes of the second quarter were close again, but then the Bulldogs took control and went on a 13-2 to push the lead out to 15 (22-37). The teams traded shots for the rest of the half, with SWOSU holding a 26-42 lead at the intermission.
For the first four minutes of the third quarter the Bulldogs kept the lead between 16 to 18 points. The Tigers then started a come-back attempt, using a 9-1 run over the next two minutes to cut the lead to 10. ECU kept the disadvantage between nine to 12 points through the rest of the quarter, with SWOSU leading 45-55 at the break.
The Tigers kept fighting and scored the first four points of the final stanza to cut the deficit to seven. However, the Bulldogs countered with a 6-0 run to regain a double-digit lead (48-61), with eight minutes left to play.
That did not deter ECU, who put together a 10-2 run over the next 3:30 to get within five (58-63). But SWOSU had one last push in them, earning a 10-2 run of its own to secure the win, 63-79.
While Stotler and Jackson has strong shooting performances for the night, both shooting over 60 percent from the field, the Tigers shot just 37.9 percent (25-of-66) as a team and just 9.5 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs had a strong overall night, with a 43.3 overall percentage and an 8-of-24 mark from three-point range.
