Baseball Earns Come-From-Behind Win at Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, OKLA. – The East Central University baseball team fell behind early, but came back to claim a 2-1 victory at Oklahoma Baptist in the first of a three-game Great American Conference series.

The Tigers (9-20, 9-10 GAC) recorded two hits in the game, with senior Kris Molter and junior Trey Mound each earning one.  Junior Kodiak O'Ravez led the team with one RBI.

Sophomore Brandon Dusenberry threw his second complete game of the year, allowing four hits and one run, while striking out five.

The Bison (22-9, 13-6 GAC) started the scoring, earning a single run in the second inning.

Both teams held each other scoreless for the next five innings before ECU tied the game at one in the top of the eighth inning.

Before the eighth, the Tigers had gone three-up; three down in the first seven innings and it looked like it may stay the same as the first batter was sent back to the dugout in the eighth.  However, junior Trevor Huie reached due to an error and was sent to third when Mound hit a single to right field.  That allowed a run to score when O'Ravez hit into a fielder's choice.

ECU then sent the first three batters for OBU in the eighth back to the dugout before adding the game-winning run in the ninth.

Molter led off the inning with a double down the right field line and was sent to third on a fly ball to right by junior Jake McKeel.  That put him in scoring position on a wild pitch for the 2-1 advantage.

Dusenberry struck out the side in the bottom of the night to earn the victory for ECU.

The teams will wrap up the GAC series, Saturday, April 2 with a doubleheader set to start at noon.
