ADA – The East Central University football team saw its 2016 Homecoming game spoiled, by a 34-36 OT loss to Oklahoma Baptist at Koi Ishto Stadium in Great American Conference action.

The Tigers (1-3 GAC) were paced by seniors
David Moore and
Brooks Holder, who connected on three TD passes. Moore caught nine passes for 170 yards, including a 51-yard touchdown catch. Holder went 22-of-37 passing, in his first start of the season, for 326 yards and four total TDs.
Junior
Camnik Campbell and redshirt junior
Vernon Johnson each tallied double-digit tackle totals for the day, with 13 from Campbell and 10 from Johnson. Senior
Lexus Jackson added six total tackles, 2.0 TFL and an interception (37 yards).
The teams battled through three rounds of overtime before a winner could be decided and the stats showed how close things were. The Bison (2-2 GAC) claimed a slight 441-425 total yard advantage, with ECU recording 326 passing yards to 211 by OBU.
Neither team scored in the opening two rounds of overtime, with the Tigers getting the first chance in the final round. ECU wasted no time scoring on its third chance, as freshman
Je'Qualon Wright rushed for 25-yards for the touchdown on the first play. However, the Tigers missed on the required two-point conversion, after a penalty put them on the 18-yard line for the attempt.
OBU followed with a touchdown of its own on its third overtime drive, but was able to connect on a pass on the two-point conversion for the 34-36 win.
The Tigers started the scoring in the game in the second quarter. Sophomore
Tre Harvey caught a seven-yard pass from Holder, with 1:59 left, to take the 0-7 lead.
ECU added to the lead in the third quarter on a 37-yard pass between Moore and Holder at 5:36, for the 0-14 lead.
The Bison started 21-unanswered points just over two minutes later, on a rushing TD at 3:21 left in the third quarter.
OBU added two touchdowns in two minutes at the start of the fourth quarter to take a 14-21 lead, with 12:04 left.
The Tigers tied the game at 21, with 9:41 left in the fourth, on a 51-yard TD pass to Moore. ECU then regained the lead, with 3:37 left, on a third touchdown pass to Moore (five yards) for the 28-21 advantage.
Yet, less than a minute later the Bison knotted the game at 28, to force the extra time, with a 26-yard TD pass (2:42).
Both teams had one remaining drive during regulation to try and decide a winner, but both failed to score setting up the extra sessions.
The Tigers will now prepare for a road battle at Northwestern Oklahoma State, Saturday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in Alva, Okla.
