ADA – The East Central University volleyball team rebounded from its first conference loss Tuesday, by earning a 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-15, 25-19) win over Northwestern at the Kerr Activities Center in Great American Conference action.

The Tigers (5-11, 3-1 GAC) were led by junior
Madeline Mayer, who tallied a .476 (11k-1e-21ta) hitting percentage, one service ace and three (2-1) blocks. Junior
Madyson Gill added 16 kills, while junior
Mackenzie Davis added 10.

Taylor Turner garnered 50 assists, moving her to 1,452 in her career. That number ranks her No. 3 on the career assists list, just 32 behind Holly Hicks (1,487) currently in second.
ECU took control of the opening set right from the start, taking a 6-0 lead. While the Rangers (2-15, 1-3 GAC) were able to go on a few runs through the set, the Tigers kept control of the momentum and took a 25-15 win.
The second set was a battle of runs until the middle of the set. The battle resulted in four tie scores and two lead changes before NWOSU took control for good. The final tie game at 14-all, with the Rangers then going on a 5-2 run to take the lead. The teams traded the final serves of the set, but the advantage was enough for NWOSU to hold on for the 20-25 win.
The teams continued the battle into set three, with the teams trading the first 14 serves. However, a 5-2 run gave ECU control of the set. The Tigers continued to push the tempo of the set and fought through for the 25-15 win.
The final set was tight from start to finish, with seven tie scores and three lead changes. While the final tie came at 14-all and ECU took a 20-16 lead, the Rangers fought back to get within two (21-19). The Tigers made one final push and went on a 4-0 run to take the set and match with a 25-19 victory.
ECU will wrap up its busy week of four matches, Saturday, Oct. 1 when they host Southwestern Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. at the Kerr Activities Center.
