ADA – The East Central University women's basketball team picked up its second-straight win, with a 73-68 victory over Southern Arkansas at the Kerr Activities Center.

The Tigers (6-11, 5-8 GAC) saw five players score in double-digits, with freshman
Madison Nickens leading the way with a career-high 22 points. Senior
Whitney Stotler added 19 points, four assists and eight rebounds, while fellow senior
Jalyn Jackson garnered 12 points, nine boards and four assists.
The Muleriders (5-12, 3-10 GAC) jumped out to an early 0-4 advantage, but ECU countered with a 6-0 run of its own for the lead. The teams remained close through the first half of the stanza, but SAU used a 10-5 run in the second half for the 13-18 lead.
The Tigers quickly came back in the second quarter and tied the game at 18 in the first two minutes. The teams then traded runs through the rest of the stanza, with the Muleriders earning a slight lead at the half, 33-35.
ECU again came out strong in the second half, using a 14-5 run in the first six minutes to take a 47-40 advantage. SAU kept tings close the rest of the quarter, with the Tigers holding a 50-46 lead.
The Muleriders fought back with an 8-2 run at the start of the final stanza, to get within two (54-52). Things remained close until the final 3:30, when the Tigers used a 5-0 run to push the lead back to six. ECU kept the advantage around six the rest of the game and claimed the 73-68 win.
The game came down to shooting percentages, where the Tigers hit 45.3 percent of their shots and allowed just a 38.5 mark by SAU. ECU also shot 50 percent (11-of-22) from three-point range and allowed just a 38.9 percent (7-of-18) mark.
The Tigers will now get ready for their final full weekend road trip of the 2016-17 season, as they travel to Arkadelphia, Ark., to face Ouachita (Feb. 2) and Henderson State (Feb. 4).
