ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – The East Central University volleyball team was swept by Ouachita Baptist 3-0 (23-25, 13-25, 15-25) on the road in Great American Conference action.
The Tigers (4-17, 0-8 GAC) were led by junior
Karina Erreguin and freshman
Audra Jonas, with seven kills each. Jonas hit .286 (7k-1e-21ta) for the day, while Erreguin netted four block assists.
The teams took turns holding the lead in the opening set, with Ouachita (11-8, 4-4 GAC) taking a late 20-15 advantage. However, the Tigers kept fighting and cut the gap to one (24-23), before falling 25-23.
ECU took an early lead in set two, but Ouachita tied the set at eight and then pushed out to a 13-8 lead and never looked back on the way to the 25-13 win.
Ouachita jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the final set that the Tigers were unable to overcome. Ouachita took the final set 25-15.
ECU will remain in Arkadelphia for their next match, facing Henderson State, Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.
