ADA – The East Central University volleyball team will host its final non-conference match of the 2017 season, Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. when Arkansas-Fort Smith comes to town. The Tigers will then host Oklahoma Baptist, Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in a Great American Conference match.
ECU is 7-18 overall and 2-9 in the GAC after going 2-1 last week, including a 3-2 win over Southern Arkansas on Senior Day. Senior
Alex Campbell hit .220 (24k-11e-59ta) for the week, while adding seven digs and a block assist.
Arkansas-Fort Smith is 18-6 overall and 6-1 in the Heartland Conference. The Lady Chaps are hitting .220 (1202k-419e-3558ta) on the season and allowing just a .149 (1118k-559e-3750ta) mark by its opponents. UAFS has five players with over 100 kills on the year, with Anna Demmer leading the way with 343 kills, a .259 (343k-90e-977ta) hitting percentage, 30 service aces, 261 digs and 46 (12-34) blocks.
The Tigers and the Lady Chaps have met on eight previous occasions, with UAFS earning a win in all eight meetings, including a 4-0 mark when playing in Ada.
OBU is 13-11 overall and 8-3 in the GAC after falling to Arkansas Tech and Harding over the weekend. The Bison are hitting .203 (1168k-469e-2449ta) and allowing just a .156 (1120k-565e-3555ta) mark. Cadyn Laing leads a group of five players with over 100 kills, recording 253 kills, a .266 (253k-77e-662ta) hitting percentage, 23 service aces, 159 digs and 99 (9-90) blocks.
After falling at OBU earlier this season the Tigers trail 4-5 overall and 1-2 in GAC matches in the all-time series. However, ECU holds a 4-1 lead when playing at the Kerr Activities Center.
