Volleyball Falls in Final Non-Conference Match of Season

ADA – The East Central University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (14-25, 18-25, 17-25) decision to Arkansas-Fort Smith in a non-conference match at the Kerr Activities Center.

The Tigers (7-19) were paced by freshman Audra Jonas and senior Madeline Mayer, with eight kills each.  Senior Micah Rogers led the defense with 10 digs.

The first set saw the teams trade the first six serves, before the Lions (19-6) went on a 4-0 run to take the lead for good.  UAFS pushed the lead out to as many as 10 before earning the 25-14 win.

The second set saw the Lions take the first two points and the lead for the rest of the set.  UAFS used several small runs throughout the set and claimed the 25-18 win.

The final set was much closer, with 14 tie scores and 10 lead changes before a winner could be decided.  The final tie came at 17-all, when UAFS started a 9-0 run to earn the 25-17 win.

The Tigers will next face, Oklahoma Baptist, Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Kerr Activities Center.
