Volleyball Set For Final Matches of 2017 Season

Senior Mackenzie Davis led the Tigers with 14 kills and three block assists earlier this season at Southeastern.
ADA – The East Central University volleyball team will wrap up the 2017 season with two Great American Conference matches.  The Tigers will first travel to face Northwestern Oklahoma State, Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m.  ECU will then host arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State, Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Kerr Activities Center.

The Tigers come into the week with a 7-22 overall record and a 2-12 mark in the GAC.  ECU has two players with over 200 kills on the year, with senior Madeline Mayer leading the team with 229.  Mayer adds six service aces, 41 digs and 85 (17-68) blocks.

The Rangers are 19-9 overall and 9-5 in the conference and have secured a spot in the 2017 GAC Championship after winning their last match against Oklahoma Baptist (3-2) on the road.  NWOSU has a .229 hitting percentage on the year and is allowing a .173 mark.

The Rangers have five hitters with over 100 kills this season, with Hannah Williams and Jennifer Eubanks leading the way.  Williams has 334 kills, a .204 (334k-131e-995ta) attack percentage, 15 service aces, 245 digs and 40 (2-38) blocks.  Eubanks adds a .378 average (316k-64e-667ta), 316 kills and 90 (15-75) blocks.

After falling to NWOSU earlier this season (3-2) at home, the Rangers took a one-match lead in the all-time series (6-5).  NWOSU has done better at home, going 4-1 in the series in Alva.  In the first meeting this season Mayer led ECU with 16 kills, a .275 (16k-2e-51ta) hitting percentage, two block assists and three digs.

The Savage Storm are 12-17 overall and 7-7 in the GAC after winning their last six matches and earning a spot in the 2017 GAC Championship.

SE has four players with over 100 kills this year, with Abby Jameson leading the team with 339.  Jameson adds a .171 (339k-165e-1016ta) attack percentage, nine service aces, 268 digs and 37 (2-35) blocks.

The Savage Storm hold a 14-6 overall and 11-5 lead in conference play in the all-time series.  The Tigers have done better at home, trailing 5-4.  Earlier this season, ECU fell to Southeastern on the road (3-2), with senior Mackenzie Davis leading the Tigers with 14 kills, a .323 (14k-4e-31ta) hitting percentage and three block assists
