GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS – The East Central University baseball team fell to Oklahoma Christian, 3-7, in the final game of the D2 Air Hog Classic at Air Hogs Stadium.
The Tigers (0-4) saw senior
JT Stevenson earn a two hit game, with three RBIs. Stevenson was the lone player of six to claim more than one hit in the game, where ECU recorded seven.
Senior
Dylan Sanchez started the game on the mound and threw the first two innings. Junior
Shae Edmonds finished the game, allowing four hits, two runs and striking out six.
The Eagles (2-2) got things going in the second inning, scoring five runs. OCU added two more runs in the top of the fourth before the Tigers could get on the scoreboard.
ECU scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fourth. After the first out junior
Connor Stevenson singled through the left side and was advanced to third on a double by senior
Jake MeKeel. Junior
Kade Hayes then reached to load the bases, which allowed
JT Stevenson to earn all three RBIs for the game with a double to left field.
The Tigers will now head home for the first games of the season at Ken Turner Field. ECU will host Central Oklahoma, Saturday, Feb. 11 for a double header starting at noon. The Tigers will then return the games with the Bronchos, Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. for a double header in Edmond, Okla.
