ADA – The East Central University women's basketball team got its first sweep of the season, with a 68-58 victory over Oklahoma Baptist at the Kerr Activities Center in Great American Conference action.

The Tigers (8-12, 7-9 GAC) were paced by junior
Devon Branch, who earned her first double-double of the season, with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman
Madison Nickens added 16 points, a career-best six steals and three assists.
The start of the game was close, resulting in a tie at eight, with 4:03 left to play. That is when ECU took over and used an 8-0 run in the final minutes of the quarter to lead 16-8.
The Tigers continued to push in the second quarter and increased the lead to double digits, with 6:30 left in the half. ECU kept up the tempo and had the lead out to as many as 18 before ending the half leading 39-22.
The second half saw a few runs by the Bison (6-16, 3-13 GAC). OBU was able to cut the deficit to nine in the final five minutes and the teams went into the final stanza with a 48-39 ECU advantage.
Things were kept close at the start of the fourth quarter, but the Bison kept pushing and were able to cut the lead to just four (52-48), with 5:34 left. The Tigers then got a couple of big three's from sophomore
Tia Williams to push the lead back out seven. ECU kept the advantage in their favor and has the lead out to as many as 11 before claiming the 68-58 win.
Triples were the key to the victory for the Tigers, as they hit 14 and allowed just five by the Bison. ECU shot 40 percent from three point range and held OBU to 33.3 percent.
The Tigers will now make the trip to Southwestern, Saturday, Feb. 11 for a 3 p.m. game in Weatherford, Okla.
