Softball Swept at Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVILLE, ARK. – The East Central University softball team struggled to get their bats going in the final two games of the Great American Conference series at Arkansas Tech, falling 0-1 in the first game of the day and 0-3 in the finale.

The Tigers (19-18, 10-15 GAC) recorded just five hits on the day, with five difference players each earning a single tally.  Hitting became a clear difference in the day, as ATU earned 16 hits.

ECU will now return home to start a busy week, with the first of their mid-week doubleheaders against arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State set for Tuesday, April 4 at 2 p.m. at Tiger Field.  The Tigers will finish the week with a four-game series against Harding, April 7-8 at home.

ATU 1, ECU 0
The opening game was a pitchers dual, with ECU tallying just one hit and allowing nine hits by the Golden Suns (24-12, 18-6 GAC).  However, there was just one run scored in the game.

Unfortunately for the Tigers that run was scored by ATU in the fourth inning.

ATU 3, ECU 0
The scoreless trend continued into game two, with no runs crossing the plate until the sixth inning.

In the top of the sixth it looked like ECU would get on the scoreboard, as they loaded the bases on singles from junior Alissa Taylor and junior Claresha Clemons and a bunt from sophomore Ellanee Allison.  However, the next three batters struck out.

The Golden Suns also came alive in the sixth, but were able to score three runs on four hits to claim the 0-3 final.
