Volleyball Set for Two Conference Matches

ADA – The East Central University volleyball team will play two conference matches this week, with home and away matches set for the next four days.  The Tigers (4-11, 0-3 GAC) will first hit the road to face Oklahoma Baptist, Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.  ECU then returns home to battle with Southern Nazarene, Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Kerr Activities Center.

The Tigers are being led offensively by senior Alex Campbell, with 120 kills, six service aces, while adding 63 digs and 22 (1-21) blocks.  Senior Lily Porsa is leading the defensive core, with 237 digs.

Oklahoma Baptist heading into Tuesday's match with an 8-7 overall record and a 3-0 mark in league play.  The Bison have defeated Southeastern, Southern Nazarene and Northwestern Oklahoma State so fare in the GAC.

OBU is hitting .198 on the season and allowing only a .158 mark by its opposition.  The Bison also have a key advantage in blocks per set (2.4/1.8).

OBU has five players with over 100 kills, with Mikayla Watson leading the team all around.  Watson has garnered 155 kills, a .212 (155k-57e-463ta) hitting percentage, 12 service aces, 182 digs and 24 block assists.

The Tigers and the Bison have met on eight previous occasions, with the series knotted at four matches each, including a 1-1 mark in GAC play.  However, when playing in Shawnee, the Tigers are 0-3.

SNU is 6-8 overall and 1-1 in GAC action, defeating Southwestern (3-1) and falling to Oklahoma Baptist (0-3).  The Crimson Storm are hitting .148 on the year, while allowing a .189 mark.

SNU has two key hitters, with over 100 kills each.  Bailee Turang leads the team with 180 kills, 18 service aces, 125 digs and nine block assists.  Kayla Thomas has tallied 126 kills, six service aces, 31 digs and 18 (3-15) blocks.

The series with the Crimson Storm is set a 1-10, with a 1-9 mark in league play.  The Tigers won their lone match in the series against SNU at home (1-4).
