Box Score 2 ADA – The East Central University volleyball team went 3-0 at the Tiger Invitational with victories over Langston (3-0) and Cameron (3-1) at the Kerr Activities Center. The wins moved the Tigers to a 3-4 record for the season and a 3-0 mark at home and gave them their first win over Cameron in the series history (1-4).
ECU was paced by senior
Alex Campbell, with a .310 (11k-2e-29ta) hitting percentage, three digs and three block assists. Freshman
Kachayla Upshaw added a .318 (10k-32-22ta) average, three service aces and three (1-2) blocks.

Sydney Dungen and senior
Taylor Turner split most of the time at setter, with Dungen earning 35 assists, five service aces and 19 digs. Turner added 24 assists.
Service aces became the key for the Tigers on the day, with 17 aces recorded and just seven reception errors.
ECU will remain at home next week with two matches. The Tigers will face their first Great American Conference opponent, Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. when Southwestern comes to town. ECU will then host Fort Hays State in a non-conference match, Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
ECU 3, Langston 0
The Tigers picked up their first sweep of the season in the early match of the day against Langston, earning a 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-16) win.
Upshaw led the team with 10 kills, three service aces and three (1-2) blocks. Dungen and sophomore
Macy Kurtz spilt the setting duties in the set. Dungen earned 15 assists and 13 digs for a double-double, while Kurtz added 12 assists, eight digs and two block assists.
The teams traded points in the beginning of the set, but after a five-all tie ECU went on a 6-0 run to take control of the set. While the Lions (0-7) kept fighting and were able to cut the deficit to one (23-22) late in the set, the Tigers pushed through to earn the 25-22 victory.
The second set was more of a battle, with eight tie scores and three lead changes. ECU was up 21-18 late in the set, but Langston followed with a 3-0 run to tie the set at 21. The teams then traded serves through a 25-all tie, before the Tigers finally took control to earn the 27-25 win.
ECU took no chances in the third set, taking a quick 4-1 lead and never letting the Lions earn a lead the rest of the set on the way to the 25-16 win.
ECU 3, Cameron 1
The match against Cameron was a key for ECU, as it was the first in five attempts to beat the Aggies in the all-time series, 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 25-16).
The Tigers saw four players tally at least 10 kills, with senior
Diana Etienne leading the way with 12 and adding 18 digs and two block assists. Campbell added 11 kills and senior
Madeline Mayer and Erreguin each netted 10 kills.
Sets one and three were battles from start to finish, with six tie scores and three lead changes each. The Tigers were able to pick up wins in each by six (25-19) and three (25-22) points each.
The Aggies took control of the second set early and never let go on the way to the win, forcing at least a fourth set.
In the fourth and deciding set of the match, the Tigers took an early 6-1 lead and didn't let Cameron get closer than three points the rest of the set, earning the set and match with 25-16.
