SEARCY, ARK. – For the second time this season and the fourth time in school history, East Central University men's basketball senior
Brett Cannon garnered a triple-double, with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists in the Tigers (10-6, 8-4 GAC) 94-69 victory at Harding University.
Cannon's triple-double is his second and marks the second time in school history that a player has earned two career triple-doubles, with Leonard Cooper earning two in his career (1993-96).
ECU saw five players score in double-digits in the game, with sophomore
Camron Talley leading the way with 23 points. Junior
Da'Rion King added 16 points, senior
Jeremiah Fleming 15 and freshman
Cameron Hines 13.
The Bisons (1-16, 1-11 GAC) opened the game with a 4-0 run, but ECU fought back and took a 14-9 lead after the first seven minutes of play. The Tigers kept the lead within two possessions for the next four minutes, when Harding started an 8-0 run to regain a 22-20 advantage, with 6:30 minutes left in the half.
ECU regained the momentum and went on a 17-0 run over the next four minutes to push the lead out to 15 (37-22). The teams then traded shots over the final 2:30 minutes, with the Tigers heading to the locker room with a 42-29 advantage.
The second half saw ECU come out strong, with a 12-5 run in the first four minutes. The Tigers held the advantage between 13 and 25 points the rest of the game before earning the 94-69 victory.
ECU will finish up a four-game road stand, Saturday, Jan. 27 when the face Arkansas Tech at 3 p.m. in Russellville, Ark.
