Baseball Falls at No. 28 Central Oklahoma

EDMOND, OKLA. – The East Central University baseball team dropped a 12-2 decision to No. 28 Central Oklahoma, in seven innings, in non-conference road action.

The Tigers (1-4) were only out-hit by the Bronchos (2-3) 9-7, with two of those hits coming on home runs.  Senior Zach Trueblood and junior Yan-Eric Tremblay each netted two hits each, with Tremblay hitting one of the teams home runs and earning an RBI.

Tremblay was also one of three pitchers used in the game for ECU, with junior Logan Lannon earning the start and throwing the first 3.1 innings.  Lannon allowed three hits and five runs, while striking out four.  Tremblay added two Ks in 2.2 innings of work, with four hits and five runs allowed.

UCO was the first to get on the scoreboard with a single run in the second inning.  The Bronchos then added six runs in the fourth for a 7-0 lead.

After Tremblay went in at the end of the fourth inning to pitch, he was the first batter up in the top of the fifth and hit a home run to left center for a 7-1 score.

However, UCO got the run back in the bottom of the inning and added another run in the sixth for a 9-1 advantage.

The Tigers then saw the second home run of the day hit by senior Trevor Crone in the top of the seventh.

The Bronchos then garnered three runs in the bottom of the inning to put the run-rule into effect and ending the game with a 12-2 final.

The teams will wrap-up the three-game series, Friday, Feb. 9 with a double-header slated to start at 12 p.m. at Wendell Simmons Field.
