ADA – After weather caused the Great American Conference series with Harding to be rescheduled twice, the East Central University baseball team finally got the series started and fell 10-5.
The Tigers (2-29, 1-21 GAC) and the Bisons (19-17, 11-12 GAC) had a hit fest in the game, with ECU recording 13 and Harding 14. Senior
Bryce Dimitroff led the way with four hits and two runs, while junior
Marcus Sonnier tallied three hits and a run. Senior
Trevor Crone tallied just one hit and a run, but earned three RBIs in the game.
The Bisons were the first to get on the scoreboard, with two runs in the top of the fourth.
The Tigers cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning. Dimitroff led off with a double, Crone was walked and the duo was sent into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by senior
Zach Trueblood. That allowed junior
Yan-Eric Tremblay to earn an RBI with a sacrifice fly to left.
The next two innings were scoreless, before Harding added to its lead with three runs in the seventh and five in the ninth for a 10-1 lead.
ECU made one final push in the bottom of the ninth, but were only able to score four runs for the 10-5 final.
The teams will wrap up the series, Monday, April 9 with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. at Ken Turner Field.
