Volleyball Battles to Five Sets with Oklahoma Baptist

ADA – The East Central University volleyball team fell 3-2 (25-27, 25-16, 20-25, 25-11, 15-12) to Oklahoma Baptist in the second match at the Kerr Activities Center for the 2018 season.

Scoring
  • Set One: W, 27-25
    • Five tie scores/three lead changes
    • The Tigers (0-16, 0-4 GAC) took an 11-4 lead
    • Kept the lead around seven until late
    • ECU lead 21-15 before the Bison (9-10, 3-1 GAC) went on a 6-0 run to tie the set at 21
    • Teams battled through ties at 23, 24 and 25
    • Tigers got the final two points on kills from Kaitlyn Coffey and a block by Karina Erreguin and Breanna Waldo
  • Set Two: L, 16-25
    • Four tie scores/one lead change
    • OBU took an 8-5 lead before ECU used a 4-1 run to tie the set at nine
    • Bison then went on several small runs to push the lead out to as many as nine
  • Set Three: W, 25-20
    • Four tie scores/two lead changes
    • ECU took an early 4-1 lead and built it to 8-4
    • OBU fought back to tie the set at nine with a 5-1 run
    • Tied at 11, 12 and 13
    • The Tigers then went on a 4-0 run to take the lead for good
    • ECU pushed the lead out to as many as five
  • Set Four: L, 11-25
    • Two tie scores/one lead change
    • Ties came at one and three
    • OBU then pushed the lead out to two-four points until the middle of the set
    • The Bison then pushed forward and used a 13-2 run to earn the win
  • Set Five: L, 12-15
    • Three tie scores/two lead changes
    • ECU took an early 8-3 advantage
    • OBU fought back to tie the set at nine with a 6-1 run
    • The Bison continued the push to 8-1 for an 11-9 advantage
    • OBU kept pushing and only allowed ECU to score three more points the rest of the set
