SHAWNEE, OKLA. – The East Central University volleyball team played its final non-conference matches of the 2018 season at the Great American Conference/Mid America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Crossover Tournament, hosted by Oklahoma Baptist at the Nobel Complex.
The Tigers (0-13) fell 3-1 to Southwest Baptist (25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20) and Pittsburg State (25-11, 25-14, 23-25, 25-13).
Southwest Baptist Scoring
- Set One: L, 23-25
- 10 tie scores/five lead changes
- ECU was down 21-18 and used a 5-1 run to the tie set at 22
- Final tie came at 23
- Set Two: L, 20-25
- Five tie scores/three lead changes
- Set Three: W, 25-23

- Tigers trailed 20-16 and used a 7-3 run to the set at 23 with a block solo by senior Karina Erreguin
- An attack error by the Bearcats gave ECU a chance at set point
- Sophomore Audra Jones earned the final point with a kill

- Tigers fell behind 6-1 early
- Trailed by ten (19-9) and used a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to five
- SBU built lead back to six (24-18) and held on for the win

- Senior Breanna Waldo: 13 kills; one block assist, seven digs
- Sophomore Sydney Dungen: Three kills, 40 assists, 14 digs
- First double-double of the season and for the Tigers (with Erreguin)
- Erreguin: 11 kills, .200 (11k-4e-35ta) hitting percentage, one service ace, three (1-2) blocks, 10 digs

Pittsburg State Scoring
- Set One: L, 11-25
- Set Two: L, 14-25
- Eight tie scores/two lead changes
- Last tie at 11 before Gorillas went on a4-0 run to take the lead for good
- Set Three: W, 25-23
- Seven tie scores/two lead changes
- Tigers took an early 6-2 lead before set tied at seven
- No lead larger than three until ECU went on a 4-0 run for a 22-16 advantage
- PSU fought back with an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to one (24-23)
- The Tigers secured the win with a kill from Jonas
- Set Four: L, 13-25
Pittsburg State Highlights
- Jonas: Six kills, one service aces, two digs
- Junior Kanoe Vinoya: One kill, two assists, four service aces, five digs
- Sophomore Kasey Beeler: 12 digs, seven assists
- Sophomore Sydney Dungen: Four kills, .333 (4k-1e-9ta) hitting percentage, 16 assists, one service ace, seven digs
