Men’s Basketball Picks UP GAC Road Victory at Northwestern

ALVA, Okla. – The East Central University men's basketball team picked up a Great American Conference victory at Northwestern Oklahoma State in the final conference game before the holiday break.

Scoring
  • 1st Half: 36-35
    • The teams traded points through the first six minutes, resulting in a 14-all tie
    • The Rangers (3-7, 0-4 GAC) followed with a 4-0 run, over the next minute to gain the lead
    • The teams again traded shots and small runs, but NWOSU kept the advantage between 2-6 points until 6 minutes remained
    • The Tigers (8-1, 3-1 GAC) then started to push back and went on an 8-1 run over the next 3 minutes to gain the advantage (33-32)
    • The teams traded points in the remaining time, with ECU holding on to the lead
  • 2nd Half:
    • The Tigers kept the advantage on their side from the start of the half
    • Increased the lead to five in the first 3 minutes
    • ECU kept the pressure up through the first half of the stanza
      • Leading by as many as 9
      • Kept the advantage between 5-9 through the first 8 minutes
    • The Rangers then pushed back and used an 11-3 run over the next 4:30 to take a 61-57 lead
    • The Tigers countered with an 8-4 run to tie the game at 65, with 5:15 remaining
      • ECU kept fighting and regained a 67-65 advantage 30 seconds later
      • NWOSU was held without a field goal during the span
    • The Rangers quickly tied the game at 67, but ECU then retook control
      • Went on a 5-0 run to regain the advantage, with 2:27 left to play
    • The teams traded points through the remaining time
