Volleyball Makes a Stop at Dallas Baptist

DALLAS, Texas – The East Central University volleyball team played their first non-tournament match of the 2019 season, falling 3-0 (18-25, 12-25, 15-25) to Dallas Baptist.

Scoring
  • Set One: L, 18-25
    • The Patriots (2-3) jumped out to an early 4-1 advantage
    • The Tigers (0-5) fought back and were able to get with one (12-11)
    • DBU then push back and took the lead for good
  • Set Two: L, 12-25
    • While ECU took the first point in the set, the Patriots followed with a 5-1 run to gain the advantage
    • The Tigers fought back with in two (7-5) with a 4-2 run
    • DBU then used a 5-0 run to take control of the set for good
  • Set Three: L, 15-25
    • The teams battled for control in the beginning of the set, resulting in a tie at six
    • The Patriots then gained the lead for good, with a 5-0 run

  • Jr. Sydney Dungen earned her first double-double of the season and the first for the Tigers
    • 22 assists, 11 digs, 1 kill, 2 service aces
  • Sr. Kaitlyn Coffey led ECU with nine kills and added eight digs and two block solos
  • All four of the Tigers team blocks were solo blocks
  • So. Taylor Greenameyer had a strong game for ECU
    • 10 digs, 6 kills
