PITTSBURG, Kan. – The East Central University volleyball team started the 2019 season at the Gorilla Classic by facing host Pittsburg State.  The Tigers (0-1) fell to the host Gorillas (1-0) 3-0 in the opener.

Scoring

• Set One: L, 15-25
  • PSU took an early 4-0 lead, but ECU tied the set at 4 and 5
  • The Gorillas (1-0) then pushed ahead for good, with a 5-0 run
• Set Two: L, 8-25
  • PSU gained an early 4-1 advantage and saw the Tigers get within one (4-3)
  • The Gorillas then took control with a 11-0 run
• Set Three: L, 19-25
  • The teams traded the first four points
  • PSU then went ahead for good, with a 5-0 run

• Sr. Kaitlyn Coffey led the team on offense
