Men’s Basketball Start New Year on Winning Note

SEARCY, Ark. – The No. 22 East Central University men's basketball team continued their winning streak in the first game of 2020, earning a Great American Conference road game at Harding, 91-73.

Scoring
  • 1st Half: 54-38
    • The teams traded shots in the first 35 seconds
    • The Tigers (10-1, 4-1 GAC) then went on a 13-2 run over the next 2:30 minutes to gain an 11-point advantage
    • ECU kept the advantage between 9-15 until the final 4 minutes
    • The Tigers then started a 4-0 run to increase the lead to as many as 17
  • 2nd Half: 37-35
    • The Bisons (6-5, 1-4 GAC) started the half on a 7-0 run
      • Cut the deficit to 10 in the first minute
    • ECU rebounded with a 5-0 run in the next 1:30 to increase the lead back to 15
    • The teams traded small runs throughout the half
    • The Tigers kept pushing and got the lead over 20 with just under 5 minutes to play
    • Harding then went on a 6-0 run over the next two minutes
      • The Bisons were held scoreless for the final 3:10
      • ECU tallied only 2 points in the span
