Men’s Basketball Claims Spot in 2019-20 GAC Tournament

ADA, Okla. – After a four-game losing streak, the East Central University men's basketball team got back on the winning side and clinched a spot in the 2019-20 Great American Conference Championship Tournament, with a 90-76 victory over Ouachita Baptist.

Scoring
  • 1st Half: 43-29
    • Ouachita (11-14, 9-12 GAC) hit the opening shot, but the Tigers (17-10, 11-10 GAC) followed with a 5-0 run over the next minute
    • ECU continued their push over the next two minutes
      • Used an 8-2 run to push the advantage to 13-4
    • Ouachita used a few small runs to cut the deficit to four (17-13), with 13:22 remaining
    • The Tigers responded and kept the lead around six over the next 2:30 mintues
    • Over the next 1:30 minutes, ECU went on a 7-0 run to push the lead back to double digits (30-19)
    • The Tigers kept pushing the tempo and had the lead out to as many as 17 (40-23), with five minutes left on the clock

    • Ouachita then used a 6-0 run to briefly cut the disadvantage to 9 (56-47)
    • Over the next 1:30 minutes the Tigers had the advantage back out to 18
    • Ouachita then started a final push
      • Used a 21-13 run to get within eight (79-71), with 5:30 remaining on the clock
    • ECU followed with an 11-3 run over the next five minutes to push the lead back to 16
