Men’s Basketball Preparing for GAC Championship Tournament
ADA, Okla. – The East Central University men's basketball team will be making their seventh-straight appearance in the Great American Conference Championship Tournament this weekend as the No. 5 seed. The Tigers (17-11, 11-11 GAC) will face No. 4 Oklahoma Baptist in the opening round, Friday, March 5 at 12 p.m.

Camron Talley was named to the 2019-20 All-GAC First Team for the third-straight year. This season the Rockwall, Texas, native averaged 21.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, while adding 69 assists, 39 steals, six blocks and shooting 44.6% from the floor, 38.3% from beyond the arc and 86.0% from the charity stripe. He moved up to No. 2 on the ECU 1,000 Point Club list and to No. 3 on the GAC Scoring Leaders list, currently at 1,933 points.
The Tigers also saw two players earned for their efforts on and off the court. So.
Tylor Arnold claimed the 2019-20 GAC Elite Scholar-Athlete, which goes to a player in the tournament field that has the highest GPA and over 70 credit hours. So.
Matt Garriga added a GAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete honor, with a 3.7-or-higher GPA and over 70 credit hours.
Arnold averaged 11.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, while adding 75 assists, 45 steals, one block and shooting 49.8% from the floor, 34.3% from three-point range and 86.0% from the free throw line. He has a 4.00 GPA in business administration, with an accounting concentration. The Pryor, Okla., native is one of the select few ECU Business Scholar students, with five selected each year.
Garriga added 8.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per game, while adding 18 assists, 19 steals, 5 blocks, a 47.6% field goal percentage and a 45.4% three-point percentage. The Wylie, Texas native has a 3.90 GPA in computer science.
