Volleyball Falls in Back-and-Forth Battle at Southwestern

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The East Central University volleyball team fought through three-close sets, but fell to Southwestern Oklahoma State, 0-3 (26-28, 21-25, 22-25), at the Pioneer Cellular Events Center.

Scoring
  • 1st Set: 26-28
    • 10 Tie Scores, 4 Lead Changes
    • The Bulldogs (1-2, 1-1 GAC) jumped out to an early 6-1 advantage
    • The Tigers (0-2, 0-2 GAC) quickly rebounded and tied the set at six
    • The score then toggled back-and-forth until a 12-all tie
    • SWOSU then went on a 2-0 run and held the lead by at least two points until late in the set
    • ECU used a 3-0 run to get within one (19-20)
    • The Tigers kept fighting and used a 3-0 run to tie the set at 24 to force extra points
    • The teams fought through a 26-all tie before the Bulldogs were able to get the two-straight points needs to win the set
  • 2nd Set: 21-25
    • 16 Tie Scores, 5 Lead Changes
    • The teams battled back-and-forth until a 19-all tie
    • SWOSU was down 19-18 and went on a 4-0 run to take a 22-19 advantage
  • 3rd Set: 22-25
    • The Bulldogs took control early with a 4-0 run
    • SWOSU kept the lead throughout the set
      • Largest lead nine
    • The Tigers cut the lead to three, but that was as close as they would get
    • ECU trailed 29-24, but were able to hold off three? match points
