Soccer Set to Open 2021 Season
ADA, Okla. – The East Central University soccer team will be the first team for ECU Athletics to hit the field for the 2021-22 season, as they will travel to face Rogers State, Thursday, Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.  The Tigers will then make a trip to Lubbock Christian, Saturday, Sept. 4 for a 7 p.m. match.

  • ECU went 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the Great American Conference in the 2020-21 season that was shortened due to COVID 19
  • The Tigers advanced to the GAC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2017
  • ECU saw five players earn All-GAC honors in the season, with three set to return for the 2021 season
    • RFr. Tanja Bauböck led the group with three honors
      • GAC Offensive Player of the Year
        • Only the second ECU player to earn the award – Whitney Watts - 2011
      • GAC Freshman of the Year
        • Only second ECU player to earn the honor: Margaret Glutz - 2011

    • RFr. Madison Hays was named to the All-GAC Second Team

      • No. 8 Match-Winning Goals – 2
  • ECU returns 16 from the 2020-21 roster, while adding 11 newcomers
    • Returners include the top-3 goal scores
Against the Competition
  • The match with Rogers State will be the sixth in the all-time series
    • RSU leads 4-1 overall and 2-0 when playing in Claremore, Okla.
    • Last Meeting: March 17, 2021 – L, 1-2 (2OT) (H)
    • Last Road Meeting: Sept. 6, 2018 – L, 0-1
  • Saturday's match will be just the third in the all-time series with Lubbock Christian
    • Teams are tied at 1-1, with each winning at home
